With “Alice” in 2006, R’ Pure offered an escape to the other side of the mirror. Today, the studio has once again taken this pure object of reflection as indicative of the period with the “Double Je” sofa presented on the occasion of Designers Days from 9th to 14th June 2010 at the brand new Cité de la Mode et du Design, within the framework of the Meet my Project group exhibition. A double object like the duplicity of our desires and the contradiction of our needs: “Double-Je” is an armchair which reflects the hidden side which we all have. From behind, this piece of furniture disappears, blending into the background and vanishing, showing our reflection. The reflection of the outside world then becomes the ideal shelter. It is a perfect camouflage, the ultimate mockery of a period which shows and displays everything.

It is a mirror that is questioned and whose answer is found on the other side: a hiding place for grown- ups where you can opt for a few moments of peace and quiet away from the gaze of others. A fresh interpretation of a cocoon; a comfort which is difficult to find; a weightless small nest sheltered from prying eyes. It is a unique and hybrid piece somewhere between display and intimacy, appearing and existing.
